The lego story
Have you heard of Lego, who hasn’t? I didn’t know that Lego almost filed for insolvency in 2003. I didn’t know the brand we all love for novel ideas was struggling to innovate. I definitely didn’t know they with LEGO CyberMaster, they wanted to get into the gaming industry. I recently read the book “Brick by Brick” and was very inspired by their journey. I could relate it to and it helped me navigate a rough patch that I had.
How did it all begin
Lego System was founded on 10 August 1932 by Ole Kirk Christiansen. The name Lego is derived from the Danish words “leg godt”, meaning “play well”. The history of Lego spans nearly 100 years, beginning with the creation of small wooden playthings during the early 20th century. Manufacturing of plastic Lego bricks began in Denmark in 1947, but since has grown to include factories throughout the world
Overall, an amazing company with incredible growth start attributed to innovation, grit, and disruption. LEGO owes much of its enduring performance to a core set of founding principles that have guided the company at every critical juncture over its eighty-plus years.
