Traits of a Great Team
6 simple questions will unravel if you are dealing with a great team. As a manager, I ask these questions to myself and my team on a regular cadence to assess where do we need to improve as a team.
It is not the products or visions that disrupt the course of history, it is the teams that change the world. Teams are a cornerstone for every deliverable. A successful leader understands how to make teams more effective and help them be successful.
What is a team?
Two or more people who meet regularly, perceive themselves as a distinct entity, have complementary skills and are committed to a goal and an approach where they hold themselves mutually accountable.
Traits of a Great Team
There is a good amount of literature that talks about what is the outcome of a good team but seldom we talk about what does a leader need to do to make a good team great. There are 6 attributes of a great team, they are as follows:
- Association to a belief or a mission
- Self-aware
- Strong sense of direction
- Established plan and alignment on the execution of a plan.
- Established paths to get assistance/help.
- Able to measure and improve.
